Documentation

The view domain is an abstract and general classification for different kinds of view whereby arbitrary entries of the domains catalog of derivates thereof may be referred to. The domain has an influence on the UI design and is, thus, relevant for the selection of fragments. E.g. the display of different technical aspects like individual devices, components, or the inter-relations thereof may differ from domain to domain. A single component may be part of different of these domains which results in multiple differing representations of a single components. As for the validity of the fragment only the combination of referred domain entries characterizes the fragment. This is why, for this property, multiple domains each defined using a different criteria may be used. For the evaluation of the adequacy of the fragment an intersection of the domains provided and those required may be sufficient for the fragment selection. The aspects that can be used to identify various concrete domain definitions may be the following: - The general field of knowledge that originates from the training and completed courses of a worker who is supposed to conduct a task using the user interface. - The abstract task or purpose of the subsystem the represented content belongs to, e.g. process support, operational technology networks, energy supply, waste disposal subsystems, etc. - The industrial domain, like pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, manufactoring or process industries.
