Documentation

In addition to the personal knowledge and experience, the cultural background of a user heavily influences how quickly the innner mechanics (i.e. the behaviour) and the presentation design of a UI can be understood and how many errors might occur during interaction. The most simple properties might be the user interface language or the text direction. The coding map properties for colours, symbols, sounds, etc. are especially important when translating a user interface to other cultural contexts and also for the purpose of providing consistent user interfaces.
